What do I need before I go through this tutorial?
This tutorial is designed to give you a brief
overview of ODBC connectivity and its relationship to Active
Server Pages.
In developing this tutorial, the following tools were utilized:
- 32-bit ODBC
- MS Access97
- Visual InterDev or some type of text editor available
- Internet Explorer 4.01
- Microsoft Frontpage
For this tutorial, you will need ODBC installed on your system, a text editor ('Notepad' will work), an IIS server to place your .asp file on, as well as some type of web browser (MS Internet Explorer 3.x or above or Netscape Navigator 4.x or above).
You will also need the following sample database: employee_info.mdb (MS Access97 format)
To download the database above, click on the link and choose 'Save to disk' or right-click
on the link and choose 'Save Target As'.
Don't forget where you save your database at!
