Data Connectivity and Interoperability

Data sources include relational data bases, CICS, mainframe data, SAP and PeopleSoft, and Lotus Notes, with additional promised in future versions.

Integrated Drivers: Uses a JDBC driver which implements all commands to read and modify data base metadata, with third party integration by ISG, Intersolve, and OpenLink drivers.

Native and Third Party Data Base Drivers: support for Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 to current, Oracle 7.1 to current, DB2, Informix, and Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.5 to current. Sybase JConnect provides support for Sybase Data Bases.

Data Source Objects: The SilverStream server side business objects may use the Data Request trigger for supplying a resultset to the server, passed to the client in 100-row increments as needed, are automatically cached at the client, and buffered at the server. SilverStream performs Automatic Data Binding at the client side to data controls and may be bound to the columns of a DSO without having to write code.

DSOs are recommended for handling stored procedures and complex SQL statements and may make non-relational data base data appear as if it were relational. DSOs interact with Transaction Processing monitors and transaction servers such as CICS, Tuxedo, and Microsoft Transaction Server. The DSO can work with message queueing products such as IBM's MQSeries, with additional third parties promised for future versions.
