  • Make sure you log into the class newsgroup through COL (dlweb.cs.depaul.edu)
  • ALWAYS use the class email address to reach me: elliott2 AATT elliott cs depaul edu.
  • Check the schedule for lecture topics and demo dates.
  • Review the Syllabus to make sure that you understand the attendence requirements, and stringent project requirements, for this class.
  • See the particulars of the grading policy for this class.
  • See the Project Overview
  • See the particulars of the group structure for this class.
  • Implement the directory Structure for shrike.
  • Select people to be responsible, temporarily, as the bottom line for the jobs of requirements manager, project manager, chief designer, implementation manager, presentation manager, testing manager, documentation manager, chief planner, webmaster. [Large groups: Project Director, project team leaders, communications liason.]
  • Large Groups: Chose a formal, temporary, sub-group structure, and place the names of the people in the sub-groups in a page from the appropriate link in the proj.html file. This structure can change during the quarter, but must be formally documented at this link.
  • Select groupware to use in coordinating the project team.
  • Look at the Time reporting links. Check the good/bad example time-log entries. This is an important document used in justifying your good grade in this class. Get started on your log this week!
  • Make sure that your project group has a web page listed in the class projects.html file.
  • Check the specifications for the Concept and Technology demo in the Demos directory. Implement this first part of the project.
  • Create a .matrix.html file for your group. See the .matrix.html example, and copy it if you like, creating your own entries as determined by what is important to your group. This is to be DARK INFORMATION on the web, and should not use full names. Do NOT link to this file. Place the file in your group's web top-level web directory, named .matrix.html, so everyone "in the know" can find it, but no one else knows where it is.
  • If your are going to miss, or might miss, class this quarter, let me know about it, personally, in class, send a follow-up email to me (very important), and make sure that all your group members know in advance about your (potential) absence. If you are granted a makeup see the consulting instructions.
