Project Description

Write a one page description of the project you are working on. We are looking both for a general overview and a prelimary decomposition of what you see as the main project features decomposition.

View this as a preliminary attempt at a requirements document.

Project Schedule

Use the project schedule table template to indicate the activities you intend to perform. Do not hesitate to add as many more (sub)activities as you think you need. You are responsible to define them as you see fit. Below is a suggested format for your schedule. The rows indicate activities. They should be linked to a subsection in the following section which gives a more complete description of that activity. The columns represent the weeks you have for the project. In each cell indicate the number of hours spent on an activity by the whole project team that week. Be sure to sum across the rows and down the columns.

You also need to Indicate in the schedule when milestones (various deliverables described elsewhere) will be completed.

Add another row to the schedule to indicate when deliverables will be completed and provide a link to a later section in the document that describes that deliverable in a couple of sentences. A sample is shown below. The following template is provided as a suggestion on how to format your own schedule. Feel free to modify this template to better suit your needs.

Activities description

For each activity listed in the schedule above, write a few sentence description of what is involved in that activity. Provide an estimate of the number of hours to be spent on this activity. Also indicate what roles in the project (manager, architect, programmer, writer) are responsible for carrying out this activity. Here is an example of what you should provide.

Training (25 hours)

Description:

We will be developing the prototype using the Java programming language. All members of the team will be engaged in this activity. The programmer and architect will spend the most time gathering tutorial materials and going through exercises to build up their experience. We will then have a group training session on Java for the benefit of the remaining project team members.

Roles:

Architect (10 hrs.), Programmer (10 hrs.), Manager (2.5 hrs.), Writer (2.5 hrs.)

Deliverables

For each deliverable indicated in the schedule, provide a brief description.
