Recommended minimum requirements for system running Cogsys are an Intel 80386 or compatible with at least 2 megabytes of RAM, 2 megabytes of free hard drive space, and a VGA compatible video card, running MS-DOS 6.22. The VGA card must be VBE 2.0 compliant.
Also, because Cogsys requires careful controlled display of stimuli, it is also recommended that only fixed frequency monitors be used with Cogsys. (for example, the Goldstar 1400 series). A fixed frequency monitor is one that does not attempt to adjust its scan rate based on the input video signal. Unfortunately (for the Cogsys user), most modern monitors are multisync, which means that they can change their scan rate to support multiple resolutions. Fixed frequency monitors are absolutely required for testlists which make use of Fast Refresh video.
Note that many useful testlists do not use much of the advanced functionality of Cogsys at all, and can run with even fewer system resources. Generally speaking, any computer that can run DOS with a VGA monitor will run at least the simple parts of Cogsys.
