The course requirements are a midterm quiz (20%), a final exam (30%), and a 10-12 page research paper (50%). Students are expected to attend all classes. However, this is not a factor in grading. Students are expected to prepare and complete course work in a timely fashion. Late papers will not be accepted unless a student can document a major medical or family emergency. Since the paper is worth 50% of the grade, failure to turn in the paper on or before the due date will cause a student to fail the course. Makeup quizes and exams will be given only when the student can document a major medical or family emergency. Makeup exams are given at the convenience of the instructor.
Grading is not based on attendance, but students should be aware that
examination materials are strongly related to lecture content, and poor
attendance usually results in poor examination scores.
