Note: ALWAYS make sure you SAVE your files DIFFERENT from the original video.
Trimming
Open your video in Quicktime. Go to Edit and then Trim. This can be accessed via command + T. To see timestamps, gently scroll the ends of the trimming bars.
Adding Captions
Open iMovie. Import your video. Drag it to the timeline at the bottom. Move your cursor to the time that you need to add captions. Go to Titles and then click Lower. A text box will appear where you can add your transcription. Expand the title blurb to the timeframe of your transcription.
Blurring Out People
if the person stays still
Open iMovie. Import your video. Drag it to the timeline at the bottom. Move your cursor to the time that you need to add a box. Next, take a screenshot of a black box from somewhere on the internet. Import that into iMovie. Drag that image above your video on the timeline. There should be two image tracks now. Click on the black box on the timeline. Select Picture in Picture. Click Zoom. Change the time to 0s. Move the box where you need to on the screen.
