Where to Eat?
Here I've listed restaurants in Chicago by the type of food that they serve. You'll first need to find the country and then, in the chart, you'll see the name of the restaurant, its address, its phone number, the nearest subway station (or the number of the bus that passes nearby), and, finally, some information on prices or specialties. You can use the Yahoo Yellow Pages to find more information about restaurants, their address and phone numbers.

What to Eat?
This is a section on restaurants. I've also got a section on International Food that will explain what the food is like (spicy or not, vegetarian or filled with meat) and also some possible problems you might have eating some foreign food for the first time.

If you have restaurants you'd like to recommend, please email me at wwolf@wppost.depaul.edu.

Mexican Information about Mexican food.
About 20% of the population of Chicago is Mexican or Mexican-American. Because it is so large, the Mexican community has many different centers in Chicago. The most famous is Pilsen (18th Street Station on the Blue Line). There's also a large neighborhood in Back of the Yards at California and Archer (Orange Line). In the north, there's a large community of second- and third-generation Mexican Americans around Irving Park and California.

If you simply want to find good Mexican food easily, take the Red Line and get off at Fullerton, Belmont, Addison or Sheridan Stations.

If you want to visit a Mexican neighborhood, I'd suggest you take the Blue Line to 18th Street Station (it's in the 54/Cermak direction). Pilsen is almost 100% Mexican and has restaurants of every size. After you eat, take a short walk to the Mexican Fine Arts Center 1852 W 19th St, which is open every day except Monday and is always free. You can call them at (312) 738-1503 for more information on the art, music, photography or other exhibits that they will have. You can also visit the Museum's web site.
