About the Founders

Beth S. Catlett, Ph.D.

Dr. Beth Catlett is a faculty member in the Women's and Gender Studies Program at DePaul University.  Her areas of scholarly interest include diversity in families, violence in intimate relationships, men and masculinities, and qualitative methodologies.  Dr. Catlett specializes in community-based research involving gendered violence, adolescent relationships, and social movements to create community change.

Irene C. Beck, Ed.D.

Dr. Irene Beck is an adjunct faculty member in the Women's and Gender Studies Program at DePaul University and a co-founder of the Gender Equity Fund of the American Association of University Women, Illinois.  Her particular areas of interest include youth, gender equity, and sexual harassment prevention in schools.  Her current research focuses on Chicago teen girls of color and on conducting oral histories of women working against domestic violence.
