Call for Proposals - Faculty Fellow

The Women and Gender Research Initiative was established in 2002
to promote community-based programs and research that inform the
prevention of, and intervention in, gender-related oppressions.
The Initiative advances collaborative work between DePaul faculty,
students, and community members to effect social change through
a focus on social policy, advocacy, and community development. The
Initiative also is committed to documenting, collecting, and making
public the contributions of individuals whose lives reflect previously
untold experiences and undocumented resilience.
The Women and Gender Research Initiative invites proposals for
a faculty fellowship for the upcoming 2008-09 academic year. The
faculty fellow will receive a $2,500 stipend and a funded research
assistant (working 15-20 hours per week) chosen from Women’s
and Gender Studies graduate students.
Funding Criteria:
- Research project is community focused in nature and community
based in implementation;
- Research project is, in some way, integrated into course curriculum
and/or includes student involvement in research;
- Research incorporates feminist frameworks;
- Research assistant is a Women and Gender Studies Program graduate
student;
- Faculty fellow is expected to develop a research report or working
paper that will be archived with the Women and Gender Research
Initiative;
- Faculty fellow will make a research presentation at the Services
Speaks Converence (June, 2009) sponsored by the Steans Center
for Community Based Service Learning
Application Process:
Proposals should be sent electronically to Beth Catlett, Director,
Women and Gender Research Initiative at bcatlett@depaul.edu.
Proposals should include the following:
- Project description not to exceed 3 double-spaced typed paces,
including project rationale, research aims and goals, theoretical
foundations, discussion of methodologies, and brief description
of how the project articulates with the mession of the Women and
Gender Research Initiative;
- Research timeline;
- Paragraph describing graduate research assistant responsibilities;
- Project abstract
