5b. Explain the tentative nature of historical interpretations
Specific Lesson Objective - Student will be able to:
-Analyze photographs from the Library of Congress
-Share stories with peers
-Peer edit

2) INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURE

Content: Visual Literacy-Photo Essays (African American's LOC)
Activity 1: (3 Minutes)
- Students will answer the Bellringer listed under their appropriate class title on the chalkboard.
*What does "A Picture Is worth 1,000 Words" mean to you?
-Allow some student responses to the Bellringer to get the class started.
Activity 2: (10 Minutes)
Using the first transparency from yesterday instruct students to work individually to answer the final question on the worksheet (writing a narrative)
Activity 2: (15 Minutes)
Peer Sharing: Students will pair off with a partner to read their stories & peer edit.
Activity 3: (15 Minutes)
Students will receive instructions for their project which will use primary source documents (photographs) from the Library of Congress: Adventures of the American Mind website. Each student will receive a rubric and project guidelines. Photos will be available on a first come first served basis tomorrow at the beginning of class. (These will be the same photos available to upload on the Collaboratory website)
Activity 4: (3Miutes)
-Answer any general questions
-Students will submit exit slips
-Dismiss students
