About the TLA Fellows Program

The TLA Fellows Program connects members of the DePaul community who teach (or are preparing a class to teach at DePaul) to consult with the Fellow on a wide variety of teaching related topics (e.g., effective classroom management, alternative strategies to help students learn, course redesign, etc.). The Fellow is also available to conduct confidential individual formative consultations (e.g., review course materials/student feedback, peer observation, etc.).

About the TLA Fellow: Eileen Seifert

Eileen Seifert is a member of DePaul’s Department of Writing, Rhetoric & Discourse where she serves as the Associate Director of First Year Writing and as an Honors Distinguished Faculty member. She has been at DePaul since 1985 when she joined the English Department as an instructor in the interdisciplinary Common Studies Program. She has served two terms on the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Faculty Governance Council and been a member of the TLA Advisory Board. In 2004 she received an Excellence in Teaching award at the University’s annual Convocation.

Her philosophy centers on the idea that there are as many ways to be a successful teacher as there are to be a good student. Every point in a career has challenges and opportunities to grow. Whether faculty members are just starting out or going through the transitions that come later in a career, she looks forward to sharing ideas, experiences, and strategies for achieving goals in teaching and learning.
