During the first week, read the following essays:

Then pick two your favorite essays and compare and contrast them in the following ways:
 

Discuss their similarities in tone, style, content and research.  What kinds of word and sentences does the author use?  how would you characterize the style?  What is similar about the subject and number of sources?

Now discuss their differencies in the same kinds of categories as in Step #1.

Now draw a conclusion about what the essayists are trying to accomplish, and how well they achieve it.
