Background

Hand-animation is a time-consuming process. Scripting can speed workflow in several ways, including

  • Automating highly repetitious tasks, such as creating and animating spectators for a crowd scene
  • Simplifying the complexity of a task, either by creating a new interface with a small set of tools specialized for the task or by combining multiple steps and processes into a single click-and-drag operation.
  • Storing, retrieving and reusing animations that were originally created by hand.
