New Leaf Metabolic Testing
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Assessment (60 minutes)
If caloric intake is your primary concern, whether for weight management or sport performance purposes, then consider a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) assessment. This test measues the amount of energy used at rest - the precise number of calories your body needs to maintain its basic functions. This information is then used along with your information about your current activity levels to create a plan to help you effectively manage your weight or maintain your energy for performance training.
Exercise Efficiency Assessment (60 minutes)
An exercise efficiency assessment tells you how effective your body is in using fat during cardiovascular exercise. This means that clients interested in weight management can more effectively lose body fat, while endurance athletes can train longer before "hitting the wall." Data such as heart rate, oxygen consumption, and anaerobic threshold (AT) are used to develop an individualized training program that includes target heart rate zones scientifically determined by your metabolic profile. The assessment includes access to an interactive website that allows you to track your progress.
New Leaf Package (60 minutes, each appointment)
The New Leaf Package consists of one initial New Leaf test and one retest, and can be done for either RMR or Exercise Efficiency test (e.g., two RMR or two EE). This package gives you baseline information that drives your exercise or eating plan, and provides a follow-up appointment that will show your progress.
Metabolic Package (60 minutes, each appointment)
The Metabolic Package includes an initial New Leaf test and one retest (e.g., two RMR or two EE), and adds a Nutrition Consultation to help you more effectively and efficiently combine exercise and healthy eating to meet your goals.
Nutrition Consultations
Meet with a Registered Dietitian to learn about your current nutritional habits and how to improve. Clients first complete a three-day dietary recall log, which must include at least one weekend day, then return the log to the Wellness Center at the Ray Meyer Fitness & Recreation Center. A Registered Dietitian will examine and review the results with you and help you create an action plan for healthier eating or sport performance.
