Capoeira
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian movement that combines dance, acrobatics,
music, and self-defense. Developed by African slaves that were brought
to Brazil, capoeira not only builds physical strength and endurance,
but it is learned in a non-competitive, community environment as
well. Capoeira classes begin with various stretches, warm up cardio
workouts, and strength training such as push-ups and sit-ups. The
movements are then broken down and taught to the students. Every
class ends with “roda” or the circle where capoeira
is “played.” This is where students combine and incorporate
the techniques they learn in class with one another. Wear loose,
comfortable clothing. Matthew Hill

Cooking Series
In this “simple series”, we will focus on simple ingredients
and simple recipes. In most cases, we will use fresh produce that can
be bought at your local grocery store’s salad bar. The demonstrations
will be of many familiar entrees and side dishes that are quick and easy
to create. Learn a few basic recipes at each demonstration. Some examples
include: chicken fajita wraps, broiled lemon fish, chicken tetrazzini,
pork stir fry, beef stroganoff, vegetarian burritos, chunky chicken salad
sandwiches, sweet potato casserole, apple pizza, five alarm chili and
pizza bread. Watch, learn and taste during these 90 minute cooking demonstrations
by a personal chef. Pre-registration is required. Lori Coleman
