In Memoriam
Emmanuel Eze

Professor Emmanuel Chukwudi Eze (1963–2007) died after a short illness on December 30, 2007 in Lewisburg, Pa at age 44. Prof. Eze contributed to expanding the department's course offerings into the fields of African Philosophy and the Philosophy of Race.  His work, including two forthcoming books, was on the forefront of these fields.  Prof. Eze was also a consistent and passionate advocate for increasing the diversity of the profession of philosophy, constantly reminding us here at DePaul, and the profession as a whole, to be attentive to the concerns of those people and those traditions that have been put on the margins or excluded from the discipline of philosophy.  In this way, he not only enriched our department but he benefitted the entire profession of philosophy.  His voice will be missed by many for some time to come.
