"Here at DePaul, we believe that learning never ends."

Why DePaul?

One of the oldest and most widely respected nursing programs in Illinois, the nursing program at DePaul has a number of distinct advantages:

Personal Respect
Vincentian “personalism” (the DePaul mission) emphasizes the worth and dignity of each individual regardless of beliefs or background. Helping students reach their goals is our first priority. Our alumni have become community leaders, faculty, scholars, executives and entrepreneurs.

Curricular Innovation
Programs are on the cutting edge of nursing and health care. Our student like the emphasis on true community-based health care, exceptional clinical experiences and consideration of adult learning needs.

Small Class Size
Classes rare exceed 25 students. Clinical faculty/student ratios are 1:10 for generic students and 1:8 for advanced practice students.

Extensive Mentored Clinical Practice
Students complete all advanced clinical experiences paired with an expert clinician in a 1:1 ratio. Generic students complete a 5-week full-time internship prior to graduation. Our chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, Zeta Sigma, the Nursing Honor Society, supports scholarly excellence in nursing and health care.

Flexibility
Classes are offered at a variety of times and locations to meet the needs of full-time as well as part-time working students.

Committed Faculty and Staff
Faculty members are seasoned educators and expert clinicians recognized for their scholarship in service too students and the community. Staff members are known for their friendliness and helpfulness. Our faculty distinguish themselves in teaching excellence, relevant scholarship, and community service.

Diversity of Experience
Faculty members reflect the diverse ethnic backgrounds of our students and strive to bring gender and multicultural perspectives to the classroom. Students experience cultures different from their won in clinical experiences, which emphasize serving vulnerable populations.

Our nursing center, in cooperation with the St. Vincent de Paul parish and the DePaul Nursing Alumni Organization, serves the homeless and other needy persons in the Lincoln park / Lakeview area. Our students volunteer at their churches, in homeless shelters, and free clinics.

Financial Assistance
Federal Advanced Nursing Education Traineeships are available for full-time graduate nursing students. Students are also eligible for State Public health Scholarship and Federal Public health Service Loan Payback Programs.

Our students have distinguished themselves as Albert Schweitzer Fellows and scholarship recipients.
