McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program, named after the late Dr. Ronald E. McNair, is a federal TRIO program. The McNair program is designed to prepare participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.

McNair Scholars are motivated students who have both the desire and the potential to earn a doctorate degree. The majority of the program participants are either first-generation college students or are members of a group underrepresented in graduate education. By participating in the program, scholars increase and refine their academic skills and learn the tools necessary to be successful in graduate school. DePaul's McNair Program works closely with these participants through undergraduate requirements ,encourages their entrance into graduate programs, and tracks their progress to successful completion of advanced degrees.

The McNair Scholars Program at DePaul University is a U.S. Department of Education TRIO Project supported by 76% federal funds and 24% University funds. Our program prepares selected undergraduates for continued education through the doctoral level and aims to increase the number of students in doctoral programs fromunderrepresented groups.
