| Day 1 Monday October 7 | Chicago/Budapest | Flight to Budapest, Hungary |
| Day 2 Tuesday October 8 | Budapest | Arrive in Budapest about midday Afternoon free in Budapest. Dinner with Poland students. |
| Day 3 Wednesday October 9 | Budapest | Day free in Budapest to explore, sip coffee and eat pastries, visit sights, travel to art colony of Szentendre, relax, or whatever! |
| Day 4 Thursday October 10 | Budapest/Cluj | Travel by motor coach from Budapest to Cluj-Napoca, Romania; possible visit to Orradea, Romania, enroute. Welcome reception with our hosts from Babe-Bolyai University. |
| Day 5 Friday October 11 | Cluj | Meetings with university representatives from various departments and visit to BBU classes. Meetings with representatives of social organizations (hospital, orphanage, AIDS, etc). Walking tour of Cluj. Possible visit to synagogue, or concert or folk music event. |
| Day 6 Saturday October 12 | Cluj | Free morning to spend with hosts and their families, perhaps rambling through museums and antique shops of Cluj, or strolling in the very large and beautiful city park. If the weather is good, picnic in the neighboring hills with our Romanian peers or visits to nearby villages. |
| Day 7 Sunday October 13 | Cluj/Sighisoara/Brasov | Visit local (Romanian Orthodox or Hungarian Catholic) church in the morning. Travel to Sighisoara (an old medieval town with a Saxon-German past), visiting rural villages en route. Sightseeing in Sighisoara, including walking tour of old city. In the late afternoon, relax and sip coffee in a local cafe and visit with Sighisoara hosts. Travel to Brasov (another of the seven Saxon towns), where we will spend the night with a local family. |
| Day 8 Monday October 14 | Brasov area | Walking tour of the old city of Brasov. Visits to historic mountain communities (Sinaia, Predeal, Poiana Brasov). |
| Day 9 Tuesday October 15 | Brasov/Bran/Bucharest | Visit Bran castle (associated with Vlad Dracul, or Count Dracula) and local villages en route. If there is time, we may also visit Poienari, another "Dracula" castle -- less famous, though probably more legitimate. Drive into Bucharest in the late afternoon. Evening dinner with Bucharest hosts. |
| Day 10 Wednesday October 16 | Bucharest | City tour in morning, visiting the "Paris of the East." In the afternoon, meeting with representatives of US Embassy and local businesspeople, artists, educators, and politicians. |
| Day 11 Thursday October 17 | Bucharest | In the morning, continued meetings with representatives of various sectors of society. Free afternoon to rest up for trip home or to do last minute shopping. |
| Day 12 Friday October 18 | Bucharest/Chicago | Travel home. |
