Each student is responsible for scheduling her/his own academic committee meetings. I cannot give you an exact page number for your Foundations Manual because there are many versions of them. Therefore, look in the Table of Contents and find the section that deals with the Academic Committee. If you want a copy of the most current FAL manual, you can get that at the SNL BA Forms Website.

You should hold your First Committee Meeting as soon after your Foundations course as possible. Typically, it's ideal to hold them in the quarter following your Foundations class.

At the First Committee Meeting, you will present the materials necessary for earning the F-1 Competence (formerly the WW-1 Competence). It's advisable for you to review the section of your Manual that deals with the conduct of the first committee meeting. Especially note the section on AGENDA. The student chairs and conducts all academic meetings. You should schedule them and arrange for a place to hold them. You can do this by calling the front desk of any campus where you intend to hold your meeting.

Required Documentation for the First Committee Meeting:

You should review the assessment form for the First Committee Meeting and especially note the criteria for granting the
F-1 Competence. You need to produce all the required documentation for these criteria.

You should do your First Committee Meeting as soon after Foundations as possible.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're moving ahead or standing still!
