DePaul University has started a new collective blog – DeBlogs. DeBlogs is a collection of students, faculty and staff blogging about their experience as part of the DePaul community. Each blogger has their own page – you can follow individual blogs, or all the blogs. You will see this site grow, with new features and guest bloggers.

Teaching Commons Workshops

DePaul's Teaching Commons is offering a series of Workshops. I think several of these may be of interest to Commerce faculty. Notable workshops include Darsie Bowden on helping students read effectively, and Garrett Grenz on engaging international students in the classroom.

Workshops are free to DePaul faculty. More information and registration can be found on the website:

DePaul Goes Social Media

Justin Gillmar sent me a link to the "This is DePaul" student video contest. as Justin says...

"Laugh at the ones you love. Quietly scoff at the ones you don't. Then let your voting do the talking. Your votes will be used to determine the Audience Choice Award (aka'The Academy Might Have Overlooked It, But the People Couldn't Get Enough Of It' Award). Still reading this? What are you waiting for, go check out the videos! Voting ends May 25th."

The complete list of videos can be found here.

Guest Lectures

I have been preparing materials for the MKT:595 Internet Marketing class here at DePaul. Some experts in the industry have kindly offered to be filmed for the upcoming classes. Ed Brill came into DePaul last Thursday and we filmed him against a greenscreen. We should have this footage converted to RealMedia and iTunes/iPod/iPhone clips fairly shortly. I am really excited about having industry experts available to our students in this format. I find that there is only so much information that can be processed in a “live” class. Having access to engaging presentations in a portable, recorded format improves the learning experience. So far we have been lucky to gain the insight of: I have a few more folks preparing to be filmed over the next month. I think DePaul students will love to see these guest lectures.
