TDC 375 701 Assigned Course Book Errata Book: TCP/IP Protocol Suite, Fourth Edition, Behrouz A. Forouzan At the end of the quarter I will submit a note detailing book errors and feedback to the author. Students who find technical inaccuracies with the text that have not been previously reported or in an existing errata for the book will receive credit on their final homework grade. I've not yet determined the award system yet, but it will probably be something like being able to earn up to a total of a perfect score on your final homework grade. Based on the current error detection rate, I'm thinking maybe an extra 20 points per error added to the 3 top homework grades, when scored at a maximum of 100 each. Once you reach 300, you're maxed out and will receive a perfect homework grade. We'll see what works. p 139 Example 5.27 solution shows the dotted decimal network mask as 255.255.255.240, but it should be 255.255.255.224. credit: Isaac p 328 Figures 11.58 and 11.59 have their BGP types transposed. The keepalive message is type 4 and Notifation is type 3. credit: Jonathan p 596 In the header definition fields, the 'd. TC (truncated)' field is described as being set when the response is over UDP and the message size is greater than 512 bytes. This is not strictly correct and in practice is often not applicable thanks to EDNS0, which while not universally deployed, is widely deployed. p 599 Table 19.4 have the incorrect mnemonic and description for class 3. It is 'CH' and the 'CHAOS' class respectively. credit: jtk $Id: errata.txt,v 1.3 2009/10/28 21:43:37 jkristof Exp $
