Notes About the Crime Statistics

  1. The above numbers are subject to change due to administrative deadlines used in printing this document.
  2. None of the above crimes fall into the category of Hate Crime as defined by Illinois Criminal Code Chapter 720 5/12-7.1.
  3. More information on Chicago crime statistics are available at City of Chicago- Chicago Police Department. A full year of statistics will be available for 2000.
  4. There were no reported occurrences of the above listed crime categories at the O'Hare, Naperville, Lake County or South Suburban Campuses, prior to the year 2000. Also, prior to the year 2000 public statistics were not available for the above listed campuses.
  5. The way in which we report liquor law violations has changed due to new requirements by the Clery Act. We previously reported only arrests made. These numbers now refer to arrests and referrals for campus disciplinary action. Our statistics are provided by our Residence Life Office.
  6. Arson statistics are a new requirement in 1999.
