Joseph Lease Poetry Reading

Joseph Lease's critically acclaimed books of poetry include Broken World (Coffee House Press) and Human Rights (second edition forthcoming from Talisman House). His poem "'Broken World' (For James Assatly)" was selected for The Best American Poetry 2002 (Scribner). His poems have also been featured on NPR and published in The AGNI 30th Anniversary Poetry Anthology, Bay Poetics, New American Writing, Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Talisman, Volt, Fence, The Paris Review, and elsewhere. Paddy Homan (paddyhoman.com), an award-winning Irish tenor living here in Chicago, will be singing some of James Joyce's favorite songs on Monday, May 17 at 6:15 p.m. The event will coincide with Dr. James Fairhall’s ENG 459 James Joyce class and will be sponsored by the Irish Studies Program; everyone is welcome.
Famous accordion player, Jimmy Keane (jimmykeane.com), will also perform at the event. Jimmy was awarded musician of the year 2010 by Tradition in Review columnist Bill Margeson.
Graduate Study Abroad in Berlin
Study Berlin in history, literature, and film, and then travel to Germany to explore this dynamic world capital firsthand. This 2011 winter-quarter program for DePaul graduate students consists of an intensive six-week course on the Lincoln Park campus followed by a nine-day study tour of Berlin.
