Running-related Odds and Ends you might not know about Clark Elliott,
AI Professor.
- I began running in 2001 to help recover from an injury. I have never
trained, but prefer to run every three or four days if possible if I
can work it.
- Up until 2005 I could probably have run thirty miles on any given day
should it have been necessary to do so, subject to some constraints.
- I had a chance one Saturday in fall of 2003 to run until I stopped,
without having other obligations, so I ran continuously for eight hours,
completing 40.5 miles, around a 0.725 mile track in Evanston.
- I ran in the 2003 Chicago Marathon, but was a little tired from running
the 40 miles the previous week, finishing in four hours, seventeen minutes.
- I was not able to register for the 2004 Chicago Marathon, so I just ran
27 miles on my own. I only ran three times in the four months prior to that
day, which seems a little strange.
- I never run two days in a row if I can help it, giving my body time to
rest.
- I ran thirty miles once in 95 degree weather, in the sun.
