Final Proposal Submission

In this assignment, you must put together the final plan for your study. Therefore, you should schedule a time to meet with your team this week to discuss the details of your research design, your independent variable (how you will operationalize it), and dependent variable (how you will measure it). To help you, please answer the questions below FIRST. Then work on how you will implement the design by writing a procedures section.

Once again, you will need to write the answers to the following questions individually. However, any materials used will be identical for each member of the group.

For this assignment, you must propose a study that investigates how one independent variable influences on dependent variable. The study must be non-experimental and observational.

YOU MUST ATTACH COPIES OF ANY MATERIALS YOU WILL USE TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT AND PERMISSION TO BEGIN DATA COLLECTION.

  1. What is the main purpose of your study? What is the research question that you are interested in investigating?
  2. What is your specific hypothesis (relationship between IV and DV)? Remember your hypothesis should cover all levels of you IV and be stated in terms of how it will effect your DV.
  3. How will you operationalize your IV? What are the levels of the IV?
  4. How will you operationalize your DV? How will it be measured?
  5. What are some possible reliabilty issues you may have? How do you plan to account for them?
  6. What are some potential confounds? How do you plan to account for them?
  7. Attach a copy of your informed consent document and debriefing (if necessary).
  8. Attach a copy of any materials you plan to use.
  9. Write a paragraph that details your exact procedure for data collection (be very specific so that someone reading your paragraph could repeat your study exactly!). This paragraph or set of paragraphs should be similar to an APA style methods procedure section.

Your paper should be well-written - with a clear introduction and conclusion. It should be free of grammatical and spelling errors, one and a half to three pages long, typed, and double-spaced. (If you do not have a typewriter or computer, you should go to one of the public computer labs on campus to print your paper.)
