Journal Article Critique
In this assignment, you will read a peer-reviewed journal article
(selected for your by the instructor) and critique the study. In your
critique you should:
- Identify the research question and hypothesis, why it is important,
and the theoretical context for asking the question/making the
hypothesis
- Indentify all of the variable under study (IV,
DV)
- Identify any potential confounds in the study and any problems with
validity or reliability
- Identify any limitations of the study.
- Give a clear suggestion of a way in which this research could be
improved or extended.
- Do not simply restate the limitations and future directions suggested
by the author.
Your paper should be well-written - with a clear
introduction and conclusion. It should be free of grammatical and
spelling errors, one and a half to three pages long, typed,
and double-spaced. (If you do not have a typewriter or computer, you
should go to one of the public computer labs on campus to print your
paper.)
