DIÁLOGO
CALL FOR PAPERS
Latin America-U.S. Relations and their Effects on Latinos
Submission Deadline: April 7, 2006

Diálogo is seeking scholarly articles, essays, artwork, poetry and book reviews on a variety of topics on Latin America-U.S. relations. Social
and political events of the past ten years have redrawn the continent’s political map from one characterized and defined by the oppressive
rule of right wing military dictatorships, to one currently characterized by relatively strong democratic governments and progressive social
movements, regional trade agreements, and coalitions. In fact, recent changes in Chile,Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador, and
Bolivia can be considered transformative and revolutionary. We are interested in works that discuss Latin America-U.S. relations from
historic and contemporary perspectives, as well as narratives and analysis of more recent evens that shape that relationship. We are also
interested in works that analyze the impact on Latin America-U.S. relations on the Latino communities in the U.S. Articles on the
participation of Latinos in home country politics, the impact of remittances, the creation and impact of NAFTA, CAFTA, ALBA,Mercosur,
Petrosur, Petrocaribe, Telesur, as well as the transcendental social and political changes taking place in the region, are specially welcomed,
but not limited to what we will consider for publication. Although Diálogo No. 10 will focus on Latin America-U.S. relations, we will, like
in previous issues, also accept and publish works that focus on other areas of interest to Latinos and Latin Americans.
