On June 3, 2001, in ceremonies at Radio City Music Hall, the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing (based on a recommendation by the American Theatre Critics Association) presented Victory Gardens Theatre the Tony Award for Regional Theatre.

As a member of Victory Gardens' Playwrights Ensemble, I had the opportunity to take part in this celebration of the theatre's achievements.  Collected here is some documentation of events surrounding these festivities.

Before heading off to the Awards, several members of the Playwrights Ensemble (L to R - James Sherman, Me, Douglas Post, Kristine Thatcher, Nick Patricca and Jeffrey Sweet) met in the bar of the Algonquin Hotel for drinks in the appropriately elegant environment.

Joined by Ensemble members Charles Smith and Lonnie Carter (2nd and 3rd from the left), we gathered around the Algonquin's famous round table where Kristine treated us to a round of brandy.

We stopped on our stroll up Sixth Avenue for a photograph before entering the theatre.  (L to R - back row - Nick, Lonnie, Doug, Charles, Jeffrey and Jim; front row - me and Kristine)
