Lincoln Park Community Research Initiative (LPCRI)
The Research Initiative supports the collection of materials that document the history and development of the Lincoln Park community and promotes research and the presentation of study findings.
Awards have been given for the following projects:
Early Ethnic Settlement in Lincoln Park as Reflected in Architecture
Wanda Harold, Sociology Department, DePaul University
This research project links social ecology with urban architectural design.
The Wanda Harold Architectural Photographs
of 200 historical buildings in Chicago's Lincoln Park Community include landmark domestic residences, commercial sites,
and churches constructed in a variety of historical styles. Ms. Harold supplied each photograph with identification as to
architectural style and location. All photographs of the late 19th-early 20th century buildings were taken by Ms. Harold in
the year 2000.
Lincoln Park: A Changing Community 1984-2002
Charles Suchar, Sociology Department, DePaul University
This proposal is for a book length photographic study of three groups of Lincoln Park residents:
original residents, urban pioneers and the recently arrived. The book would explore what became
of the recently arrived residents of the 1980s and include photographs of new community leaders.
A final section of the book would focus on comparative photography of neighborhood development in the
Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam to Lincoln Park.
