Text Box:  DePaul Burnham Celebration Update March 2008

Text Box: Chicago isn’t the only city preparing for a “Daniel Burnham” milestone. Baguio and Manila, in the Philippines, are also celebrating the anniversaries of their “Burnham Plans”. We anticipate a great deal of cross-cultural exchange as a result.
In December, Dr. Marco Tavanti and students of the School of Public Service traveled to Manila to work with Adamson University on a poverty-reduction program for relocated informal settlers along the North-South Railroad. Tavanti arranged for DePaul to join an international partnership coordinated by the Vincentian Center for Social Responsibility to support micro-savings funds for relocated communities.

Text Box: Burnham Centennial Resources
Over the next few months, we will continue to post resources and information on DePaul’s Burnham Centennial website, http://www.depaul.edu/~chaddick/Burnham Centennial 2009.htm. We are in the process of organizing guest lecturers for courses, and collecting relevant reading materials.  We appreciate any input on specific resources that would be useful to faculty during the 2008-2009 Celebration.
