Burnham Centennial Celebration

Welcome to the web page of DePaul University’s 1909
Burnham Plan Centennial Celebrations! We are pleased to report that
many individuals throughout campus are supporting us as we make final plans for
the courses and events that will take place during the celebrations between
March 2008 and September 2009. Whether you are part of the faculty, staff,
or student body, or are a graduate or friend of the university, we hope you
will get involved in our expanding effort.
The university’s centennial celebrations are being
coordinated by a faculty-led process facilitated by the staff of the
Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development. We hope to make our
university one of the most foremost contributors to the city-wide effort to
celebrate the anniversary of Daniel Burnham and Edward Bennett’s famous
plan. Indeed, the civic movement launched in 2004 that began preparations
for the centenary grew out of an effort housed at DePaul, and we are working
the closely with Chicago Metropolis 2020, which is providing executive
leadership on the project. Be sure to visit the
Burnham Plan 100 website for
more information on this effort.
We are especially grateful to faculty members Paul
Jaskot and Mark Pohlad of DePaul’s art history department for their
continuing support on this effort
Please contact the Chaddick Institute for information
about how to become involved!
