| When Queen Anne went to Bath for a holiday in 1702, little did she
know that she was starting a trend. Over the next thirty years, Bath
grew to become the most fashionable vacation spot in England. Studying
eighteenth-century Bath offers us a glimpse into the growth of a consumer
society and the way it shapes people's view of themselves and of the possibilities
that lie before them.
This is a web site in process. It brings together several different
types of information, and it will continue to grow.
This web site would not have been possible without the DePaul ATD Faculty Institute, along with hours of help and encouragement from LoriLee Sadler, Vitaliy Bunimovich, Yosef Mendelson, and John Savery. Many thanks to all. |
