Professor Rotenberg received his Ph.D. in anthropology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and has taught at DePaul University since 1979. He teaches courses in the history of anthropology, anthropological theory, linguistic anthropology, urban anthropology and nutritional anthropology. His research interests have always been located in large cities. The question that guides his research projects is "What difference does it make in the way people think about their world and live their lives that they are located in a very large city instead of somewhere else?" His research has primarily been conducted in Western Europe, particularly in Vienna, Austria. He is also the producer of the DePaul Podcast Network.
