An historical archaeologist, Professor Baxter has a doctorate from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in anthropology and archaeology from Boston University. She has taught at DePaul since 2000. Her doctoral research explored children and material culture at five 19th century sites in North America. She has also participated in archaeological digs in India, Cyprus and Jordan.
Her research interests include the roles of women in culture contact settings, the archaeology of childhood, and urbanism and ethnogenesis in 19th century America. Professor Baxter is scheduled to direct the archeaological field school for DePaul University in the summer of 2008. |
