Why Become an Alpha Sig?
Alpha Sigma Alpha is a sorority with members who are ambitious, outgoing, and friendly.
As sisters, we strive to become women of "poise and purpose" while not forgetting to have fun.
Every Member Makes a Difference. We hope that one day we may be able to share our sisterhood with you!

Some words from our sisters
On Gaining from a Sorority -
" Looking back on my time in
A∑A, I realize everything that I
have gained from being a part of this
organization. I have gained so many
leadership opportunities, met so many
amazing people inside and outside of A∑A,
and became more involved at DePaul through
community service and activities with other
organizations on campus. But most
importantly, I have gained friendships and
sisters that will be there for the rest of
my life. A∑A has
opened up a whole new world for me.”
Ashley Toro, Junior in Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Eta
On Leadership Opportunities-
“Growing in Alpha Sigma
Alpha is something that comes naturally, but
with time. The most obvious way of watching
my sisters and I grow is through the various
positions and leadership opportunities Alpha
Sigma Alpha has to offer. The privilege of
watching my sisters, the women I know and
deeply care about, take on the
responsibilities of a position and every
year taking them to the next level is
indescribably exhilarating. The honor of
being elected into a position yourself and
committing yourself to do everything you can
to make yourself, your sisters, and the
founders of Alpha Sigma Alpha proud is by
the most gratifying experiences a member can
have. Although not everyone can hold a
position at all times, it is true that every
member does make a difference, and this fact
is something that has impacted my life in
more ways than I can describe.”
Katie Matis,
Alumnae
in Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Eta
On Diversity-
“One of the things I value most about
A∑A is our diversity. We are very different
women, with different interests, goals, and
experiences, but we come together under the
same value system. I have had a group of
women that not only encouraged me in my
pursuits outside of A∑Abut have been there
to experience them with me. I have a group
of friends that give me the opportunity to
constantly experience new things.”
Kristen Marie Combs, Alumnae
On Finding Friendship while Making a
Difference-
“When I joined A∑A I didn't just get
sisters I got best friends for life! I have
made friends that I know I can truly count
on. A∑A has brought us together but our
bonds keep us inseparable. My college
experience is that much greater because of
the friendships I have made through A∑A.”
Evelyn Gajc,
Freshman in Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Eta
On Tradition-
“Tradition is what makes A∑Aso
important to me. Not the tradition of
rituals, but the tradition of sisterhood and
identity. They form memories that create a
distinct smile – linking all A∑As
across
time and space. It’s the smile that pulls
towards the corners of the sides of your
mouth when you remember those great times.
Or the smile of remembering your worst
moment of your college career as the
revelation of a power sisterhood because you
weren’t alone and they helped you through
it. It’s the smile you where right now –
watching and listening to our experiences
but remembering them with the faces of the
sisters you knew. And there, that’s the
smile of an A∑A - a smile that only we, as
A∑As have, conveying the love, dedication,
good times, bad times, hard work, and
laughter, with girls whom chance made them
our sisters, but choice made them our
dearest friends.”
Ally Clark, Alumnae
On Our Heritage-
“We are Alpha Sigma Alpha and with those
letters comes great responsibility and
pride. We are not in a sorority for just our
college years; we are making a commitment
for life. We are dedicating ourselves to the
past, the present, and the future of this
national organization. Alpha Sigma Alpha has
a strong history. We can look back to our
roots with pride and with great anticipation
and hope for the future. The endurance of
Alpha Sigma Alpha can be attributed solely
to those who regard the advice given to the
Pheonix in 1916: ‘You are a member of a
strong sorority, one that ranks with the
best in the country, Live It, Talk It, Dream
It, Work For It. In no other way you can so
effectively convince others of its beauty,
its greatness, and its power."
Melissa Niziolek, Alumnae
