Lab 2 - HCI 201
Each of you should do your own lab. You will get more out of it. You can get as much help as you like from me or your classmates.
Labs are not to be turned in.
For questions 1 - 4, if you do not have your student account sit next to someone who does. If you do not have it soon you will not be able
to submit your homeworks and projects. Please take care of this.
- Log in to your students account using SSH program. See class3 notes about SSH. I will go through this with you.
- Once logged in make sure you have a directory called public_html if not, create it.
- Create a sub directory of public_html called hci201
- Create a sub directory of hci201 called hw
- On your local C: drive, create a subdirectory of hci201 called lab2. If the hci201
directory is not there, create it.
- Create a file in notepad/textpad called hw1.html. Type in some html code anything you like
- Upload to the hw directory of your students account the file hw1.html
- Type the URL into your browser:
http://students.depaul.edu/~yourlogin/hci201/hw/hw1.html
- Create a directory called labs under your public_html directory at your students account. You can use this directory
to upload your lab work.
- Think of two things that interest you, for example music and astronomy. Use Yahoo and/or Google and find three web sites related to each of your categories.
A total of 6 URL's. Create a web pag that lists your categories and under each category use hyperlinks to link to the web sites you found.
Use must use one of the heading tags for each category and each link should be in a list use
an un ordered
ul
list. Also the web page should have a heading.
After you view it locally, upload it to your students account and view it online.
- Play around with some of the other tags we discussed, ie font and change colors and typeface.
- A nested list is a list within a list. Write a web page that looks similar to this. Don't worry about the large amount of indentation you won't be able to get that at this point in the course.
- Books
- The Time Machine
- War of the Worlds
- Magazines
- Guitar Player
- Computer Music
- Use the ordered list tag and write a web page titled FIVERS. Pick a topic and list in order
5 things about that topic. For example:
5 favorite bands
Or 5 bands that annoy you.
Your blog could be a web site of FIVERS.
- Use one of the search engines and learn about the HTML
table
tag. Use this tag and try to create a
table similar to the one below.
