Try not to center everything. Neat, left justified with margins is better.
Do not use a heading tag h1 h2 etc.. just to make the text bolder. Headings should be used to title sections of your document. Headings typically do not exceed a line
Make sure the text and background have a good amount of contrast.
Similar sections should be the same color, font and size.
Content is King, so boring black and white is better than outrageous color combinations
The san-serifs font are the best for text.
I like yellow on black but to ensure readabilty, go for black on a lighter yellow.
Your HTML file should only have one head section and one body section.
