Significance of Images Placed on United States Coins
Coins are something students may use in their daily routines. The
students me know what value the coins hold or more precise what
type of candy they may be able to get for the coins. But do they
understand who the individuals are represented on the coins. As
well as do they understand what the individuals accomplished allowing
them to have the privilege of being on a United States coin.
The activity has participants answering simple questions. These
questions are what is its value, whose Image is on this coin and
what position did the person hold? These questions are designed
with the express expectation that the students may not know all
of the correct answers. If they do not know one of the answers they
may begin to wonder what the real story is and start to investigate.
Motivating the students to investigate the topic is one of the overall
objectives of the activity.
