Topic:
Writing a Biography
Objectives:
- To recognize the value of a biography
- To create a biography of the inventor's life using
resources such as the Library of Congress' website.
Procedure:
- After reading an excerpt from the biography
of Martin Luther King Jr., the whole class will discuss why
biographies are important and worthwhile.
- Students will then think about their inventor
and discuss what important parts should be included in his/her
biography.
- Class will conclude that topics such as
childhood, family history, and important discoveries should be
part of the biography.
- Using the resources each group has collected,
they will work on writing the biographies. [Several days
will be allotted for students to work in class]
- Teacher will circulate and comment on
exemplary work (can be used for modeling to the class) or
address any concerns.
Assessment:
The final biography will be graded using the
Biography Rubric
