Talk to the student

Giving the student some information about PLuS

or the 'What is PLuS' Form may facilitate this process.

Encourage the student to contact PLuS

The student should make an appointment for an intake interview with the PLuS Director; however, some students may be reluctant to initiate contact.

The Intake Interview

When a student contacts PLuS, an intake interview is scheduled.  The interview takes about 25-35 minutes and the PLuS director asks the student questions about:

4academic performance

4organization, time management, memory, etc.

4study skills, exam taking skills, etc.

Based on this information, recommendations will be made.

Testing for a Learning Disability is Recommended

The first phase of testing (fee of $300.00) will determine the student's learning style and indicate if there is a possible learning disability.

The second phase of testing (only if first phase indicated possible LD - additional fee of $300.00) will further determine the student’s strengths and weaknesses.  If diagnosed with a learning disability, the student will be eligible for PLuS services.

If the student is reluctant to visit PLuS because of the fees, please encourage the student to discuss those with PLuS.  There are various possibilities for covering those fees.

For any questions regarding a referral to PLuS,

please contact the PLuS Director,

Mr. Stamatios Miras:

at 773-325-4239
