The next Technology Tuesday will cover Lecture Capture and Podcasting with Podcast Producer 2: Podcasting is quickly gaining acceptance in higher education as a way to deliver new and supplemental academic content, research results and marketing/sports content. Podcasting is also being included with and playing a key role in many institution's pandemic planning. In this presentation we will cover the basics of how institutions are using podcasting today, as well as demonstrate some of the options available for content creation and delivery from any type of computer and smart podia. Barefoot Vodcasting: Half-day Workshop

I will be presenting a half-day workshop at the 25th Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning on Wednesday 5th August, 2009 (1:00-4:00 p.m.).

I will assemble and distribute additional materials for the workshop on my website here.

The conference is held at the Monona Terrace Convention Center along Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin. You can register for the conference here.

About the Workshop

Learn how to vodcast ‘barefoot’—recording face-to-face lectures, workshops, and presentations without IS/IT support. Using simple tools and techniques, classes can be recorded and then broadcast from any location in the world. The equipment is low-cost and easily carried in a laptop bag. Vodcasting can transform the effectiveness of blended classes and enhance the learning experience.

Featured in the Sun-Times

Sandra Guy wrote a nice feature ('New movement' in education) in the Chicago Sun-Times that covers some of the podcasting and vodcasting work we have been doing to enhance our College of Commerce MBA courses. We still have plenty of work to do but it is gratifying to get exposure like this. Not mentioned in the article is the IDD (Instructional Design and Development) department here at DePaul. IDD helped us create greenscreen introductions for staff and faculty. They do great work.
