Radio Links The best thing I have found through the internet is the radio, but it is difficult to sort through the thousands of stations. I haven't looked for any in a long time so if you have some suggestions, email me. Here are my favorites:
"Unvarnished music." Excellent old-time folk, country, and acoustic blues. Also some world music and things like Tom Waits. Occasional bad contemporary folk. Displays whatever song is playing.
Excellent world music station from Berlin. All programs available on demand, so if they are playing Croatian talk radio (and you aren't interested) go to Programm and choose another show. Nachfalter and Diwan are new daily and consistently good.
Incredible mix of mostly obscure music -- early rock n roll, rockabilly, surf, 60's garage, and punk. There are other specialty shows and most are archived, so if you don't like what is playing go to the program schedule and choose another. Music to Spazz by is one of my favorites.
electronica from Miami; frequent guest DJ's; webcam lets you watch DJ's and feel less lonely as you sit alone at your computer wishing you were in Florida
electronica from San Francisco, with a different feel from the womb; more hip-hop influenced, with a nice website
if you are in the mood for Eurodance but you also want a little Lebanese music . . .; gives lists of last ten songs played; actually from Philadelphia
mirror image of Beirut Nights -- mostly arabic music, with a little Eurodance and hip-hop; website is in French
six different channels of gothic -- industrial, ethereal, etc,; really; displays song playing
News
makes NPR look pitiful, if you ignore the trivial British news; this link goes to the world news service with live news; you can get other programs through the BBC Radio Lancher, and choosing "news"
excellent news and interviews from Northwestern's radio station; Saturday mornings, but archived
