Excellence in Teaching Award Nominations

This is the time of year when the College invites you to honor a colleague who you believe has had a significant impact on the education of DePaul students. By nominating her or him for a 2004 Excellence in Teaching Award, you contribute to the University's recognition of the importance of teaching. The LA&S Committee on Teaching is soliciting nominations from both faculty and students, and will select three from the group of nominees to receive this award from the University's Quality of Instruction Council.

Faculty members eligible for consideration must have completed three full years of teaching at DePaul by Fall 2004 and must teach at least three degree-credit courses at DePaul during an academic year.

To nominate a colleague, send a letter explaining why he or she should be considered for this award. Your letter offers you the opportunity to highlight what you find important about the teaching that goes on at DePaul. All nominating letters will remain confidential. The Committee will give each letter serious consideration, and will use the collection of nominating letters to identify the variety of ways in which LA&S professors excel in the classroom.

I would also ask that you announce the call for nominations in your classes, emphasizing to students that the College takes this process and their nominations very seriously.

Please send nominations to Katie Kutina by Friday, February 6, 2004. You may also email your nominations to her at kkutina@depaul.edu.

Thank you for taking time to support excellent teaching at DePaul.
