        MAE Thesis Contest

The English Department announced that it will offer a $200 prize for the best Thesis written by an MA in English student this year. A committee of MAE faculty members will judge the submissions and the prize will be awarded at the English Department Recognition Ceremony held at the end of the Spring Quarter. ***Note: This is not distinct from the Thesis Option available to MAE students who are nearing the completion of their degree. It is an “add on” for students already writing a thesis.

MAE students interested in entering the contest should follow the guidelines listed below:

• Follow the usual procedure for writing a thesis:
1. Get an advisor and second reader
2. Select a topic and write a proposal before the end of Winter Quarter
3. Submit the thesis proposal to Prof. McQuade for approval
4. Fill out the necessary forms: thesis and independent study
• Submit 3 copies of your thesis, omitting your name on the title cover page. Instead, use your Student ID#
• Submit your thesis packet by May 15, 2009 (you can leave it in either Prof. McQuade’s or Ms. Flood’s mailboxes)

More information on the the Thesis Contest will be available at a later date.
