On Friday, May 18, Sigma Tau Delta, EGSA, and the Center for Writing-based Learning hosted an English/Writing Career Panel. Sigma Tau Delta would like to thank all of the students and faculty who participated in the recent discussion panel!

MAE and MAW Alumni, as well as a professional outside of DePaul, discussed their college studies and the work they have since done upon graduation. Providing personal stories as well as useful tips for job-seekers, all eight speakers agreed that there are a variety of professional opportunities for English and Writing students.

Professor James Murphy, Sigma Tau Delta advisor, chaired the event. The discussion was attended by faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students.

The panelists were as follows:

  • John Blake, technical writer for End User Documents (outside professional)
  • Jan Flood, MAW, Instructor and Assistant Director to the Graduate Programs in English at DePaul
  • Allison Tyndall Locke, MAE, Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning and First-Year Writing adjunct at DePaul
  • Bayo Ojikutu, MAW, Instructor at DePaul and novelist / fiction writer
  • Roxanne Pilat, MAW, First-Year Writing adjunct at DePaul, corporate writing consultant, and PhD student at UIC
  • Ted Scholz, MAE, English faculty at Robert Morris College and graduate internship coordinator with DePaul
