         Sigma Tau Delta: Faculty Panel

Above: James Murphy and Rebecca Cameron

Last Friday, January 19, Sigma Tau Delta hosted a faculty panel conference. English professors John Shanahan and Rebecca Cameron shared their experiences in graduate school and in their professional academic careers. James Murphy, DePaul's Sigma Tau Delta faculty advisor, chaired the discussion.

The session, heavily dependent upon student questions, focused on the limited career options avaible upon obtaining a PhD, the travails of being an impoverished graduate student, as well as when to trust and distrust one's fellow graduate students.

Both graduate and undergraduate English and Writing students were in attendance.

Sigma Tau Delta will be hosting a second panel on Friday, February 23, featuring writing faculty whose interests concern rhetoric and composition, as well as creative writing. Students interested in pursuing an MFA or PhD are encouraged to attend and voice their questions.

Food and beverages will be provided. (Please see the main page for evidence.)

Friday, February 23
6:00-7:30 p.m.
Location TBA

Please direct all questions about the upcoming faculty panel to Matthew Dal Santo [mdalsanto@gmail.com], conference coordinator, or Professor James Murphy [jmurphy5@depaul.edu], faculty advisor.
