MAE student Emma Zone will be presenting at NCTE for the Conference on English Leadership. The presentation is entitled "Change at Last / Lasting Change: Leading Your Department Through Transitions." Her co-presenter will be her Department Chair.

Presenters:
Scott Eggerding, English Department Chair, Lyons Township High School, LaGrange, IL
Emma Zone, English Teacher/Curriculum Coordinator, Lyons Township High School, LaGrange, IL

Synopsis:
Perhaps the most pervasive aspect of the No Child Left Behind era of education is the impetus for change. Whether you are considering small scale curricular change, large scale programmatic change, or unsolicited change, Heraclitus had it right in 500 B.C. - the only constant is change. In this session, a Division Chair and a teacher-leader will share their insights, successes and failures stemming from a major change initiative. Topics include curriculum and skill review, collaborative teams, data driven decision making, best practice, the role of professional organizations in the change process, consultants, group dynamics, political navigation, and whatever else you can offer to the session. Bring an idea for a change initiative to share/brainstorm. A comprehensive bibliography will be provided.
