This spring, Jim Kraus, a student in the Masters in Writing program, will have his 14th book published, a novel entitled The Micah Judgment. The book, a contemporary thriller, set in both Pittsburgh and the Middle East, is being published by RiverOak Books in Colorado Springs. On October 19-23, 2005, Kim Lewis, a new MAW student, presented at the joint IWCA-NCPTW conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Titled "Am I a Peer or Not? Experiences of Non-Traditional Aged Students as Writing Tutors," the presentation reviewed the experiences of seven women and two men, ranging in age from 35 to 75, who worked with students at College of Lake County's Writing Center. Kim was one of the presenters on the panel who discussed their reasons for returning to college, their feelings about their age, and how working with students transformed their thinking about both writing and learning.
